We asked you, leaders in community organisations, what you wanted in a Community focused conference. From your responses, we have speakers on collaboration, funding, marketing and promotions, self-care in management and some great networking sessions where you can communicate with other people like you.

dr chris jansen

​Chris is a senior consultant with Leadership Lab where he works alongside organisations in the education, health, social services and community sectors in a range of projects.  These include design and delivery of leadership development programmes, change management initiatives, organisational capability and strategic planning.    For a number of these organisations capacity building leadership labs are currently being implemented with groups of 25-40 leaders over 9-12 months in a range of sectors including health, social services, education and local government (see www.leadershiplab.co.nz  for details).

Dr Christine Taua-Fahey

​Dr Chris Taua is a registered nurse with a Doctorate in mental health. Her clinical background is in mental health and disability settings and more recently in education around various mental health topics, boundaries, and cultural safety. She is founder and Kaiwhakahaere of Pumahara Consultants, a small consultancy working around NZ/Aotearoa and Australia within various health, addictions, disability, justice, and education fields. Chris has developed a workplace Mental Health First Aid model utilising with permission the work of Dr Mason Durie and his Te Whare Tapa Wha model. She will use aspects of that to talk to you about privileging your own self-care.

Kate Frykberg

Kate Frykberg is an independent philanthropy consultant, a blogger on philanthropy and community issues and holds a number of governance roles, including co-founding and chairing Te Muka Rau Trust and serving on the board of the Innovation Unit Australia NZ.
Kate’s previous roles include Executive Director of the Todd Foundation and Chair of Philanthropy NZ.   Her background prior to working in philanthropy was in IT and entrepreneurship; highlights include co-founding one of NZ's first Internet Development companies, receiving the ASB Business Woman of the Year award and being awarded the NZ Order of Merit.

Kate lives in Wellington with her family, a dog, a cat and six chickens.

Sala Tiatia

Sala will be our MC for the day. He is ​Father to 6 beautiful children and married to a Maori Queen.
Sala has been a youth worker for 30 odd years and been in the area of Alternative Education for the last 12 years. 

​He moved down to Otautahi 8 years ago and though is now surrounded by a winning culture due to the Crusaders – cannot give up his loyalty to the Blues.
He is currently running a Maori/Pacific Island Leadership programme in High Schools and was the People’s Choice winner for Survivor NZ Season 1.
